Today, Google announced the newest generations of its Pixel smartphones; the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. With 55 million chrome cast devices around the world, Google’s devices are becoming a popular choice among consumers. Along with two new smartphones, Google introduced Google Home Mini, Google Clips & a new Google Pixelbook.

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL
“We don’t set aside great features for the bigger phone”; a quote directly aimed at Googles competitors, who save the cool, new features for the bigger phone but not this time. Unlike many other smartphones, both of these devices have some awesome new features. Both have front facing stereo speakers, OLED displays, no headphone jack, fast charging and a 12.2-megapixel rear camera. Speaking of the camera, Google sent the Pixel 2 to DXO for early testing and the phone got a score of 98. The iPhone 8 Plus got a 94. We’ll let you decide which camera you prefer.

While the Pixel 2 looks very similar to its predecessor, there’s a key difference to the design of the Pixel 2 XL. While last year’s Pixel XL had a 5.5-inch display, the Pixel 2 XL is bigger with a 6-inch display, almost a perfect edge-to-edge screen. It’s clear that Google wants their newest devices to stand up to the competition. They’ve removed the headphone jack, added “Motion Photos” (eerily similar to Live Photos on the iPhone) and can now take photos in “Portrait Mode”; exactly the same as Apple’s portrait mode except Pixel does it with 1 camera, not 2.
The Pixel 2 comes in 3 colors; black, white & “kinda blue” while the Pixel 2 XL comes in black or white. Both devices have the options for 64GB or 128GB and will begin shipping October 17th.
Google Clips, Google Home Mini & Google Pixelbook
While most were watching this event to hear about the new Pixel devices, Google did not disappoint with their other product announcements. Google Clips, a tiny camera retailing for $249, allows you to be in the moment while the little device sits nearby & automatically takes photos for you. Like they showed in the demo, this product is targeting parents, allowing them to be handsfree with their kids. Along with Google Clips, Google introduced another cool product for the home; Google Home Mini.
The Google Home Mini comes in 3 colors (Coral, Chalk, Charcoal)
Google Home Mini, a smaller version of Google Home, allows you to do so much; from listening to podcasts, dimming the lights, setting your alarm clock or playing your favorite Spotify playlist. The Google Mini home will be available on October 19th for $49. Last but not least, Google introduced the Google Pixelbook. The thinnest and lightest laptop Google has ever created, the Pixelbook has a 12.3-inch high res screen & is the first laptop with Google Assistant built in. Starting at $999, pre-orders for the Pixelbook are live now and will be available October 31st.
