Samsung livestreamed their UNPACKED event this morning to reveal (and confirm, thanks to many leaks) the details of its next smartphone or “phablet”: Galaxy Note 9. If you missed the live event or you’re just looking for the high-level details, we rounded up the coolest new features of this much-anticipated device. And if you’re thinking of getting your hands on one of these devices, be sure to check out our case collection.
S Pen With Bluetooth
The Note’s S Pen (which comes with the device) has been majorly upgraded: It’s now integrated with Bluetooth. That means you can use the S Pen like a remote to take photos and control music/video playback or presentations from a distance. And the pen will conveniently charge when docked within the device; according to Samsung, you can get 30 more minutes of power on the pen with just 40 seconds of charging.
Slightly Bigger Screen
Samsung is providing a little more real estate for its already large Infinity Display. The Note 9 has a 6.4-inch “practically bezel-less” display while last year’s Note 8 has a 6.3-inch display.
Tons of built-in storage
There are two versions available: 128GB and 512GB.
Vibrant Color Options
Samsung’s newest device is available in four striking colors— Ocean Blue and Lavender Purple in the US and Metallic Copper and Midnight Black internationally.
Powerful All-Day Battery
With the Note 9’s sizable 4000mAh battery, you’ll get impressively long-lasting usage from a single charge.
Repositioned Fingerprint Scanner
To make it even easier to use, Samsung moved the rear-facing fingerprint scanner from next to the camera to just below the camera (center-mounted), similar to the Galaxy S9 and S9+.
