Apple has revealed the next generation of iPhone: the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
Deemed “the most loved phone” by Apple CEO, Tim Cook, looks very similar to the naked eye but comes with a bundle of new features & a new color option, Rose Gold.
Many new upgrades to the device were introduced, including 3D touch, improved camera and live photos. The Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, took us through the demos of these new features. 3D touch, which is already available with Apple Watch and newer MacBooks, lets users hold down on an app and “peak” inside without fully opening the content. For example, if a friend sends you a link via iMessage, you’re able to view the Safari page within the messages app instead of having to switch to the Safari app. According to Federighi, this technology makes everything “more direct and natural than ever before”.
Along with 3D touch, Apple introduced a 12 megapixel camera, which is 50% more pixels than ever before. Examples photos taken with the new iPhone were clearer, colorful and sharper than ever before. Not only will the new camera take better photos, it will also take something called “Live Photos”. The phone, automatically, will take a few extra frames before and after a photo is taken; when you go to view the photo in your photo stream, if you hold down the photo, it will show a moving photo. This feature will be compatible with third party developers, including Facebook, later this year. The live photos will also be available to view across other iOS systems including Apple Watch and iPad.
The new iPhone wasn’t the only exciting new product announced today. Apple also announced the new iPad Pro and Apple TV.
With a 12.9-inch screen and 5.6 million pixels, the iPad Pro is the largest and highest-resolution iPad ever. Redesigned to make life more efficient, the most notable features of the new tablet is its new accessory, the Apple Pencil. The Apple Pencil, which retails for $99, can be used to edit documents, presentations and create design projects using Adobe compatible apps.

Apple TV now comes with a touch screen remote and Siri integration. In the mood to watch a romantic movie? Just say, “Show me romantic films” and Siri will give you options within all apps on Apple TV. The touch screen remote makes it super easy to scroll through movies, TV shows and all the apps available on your screen. The remote also doubles as a video game controller.
iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be available for pre-order on September 12th and available for purchase on September 25th.
